What are the most important considerations when shopping for windows?
Finding quality windows can be a daunting task. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for the best replacement windows:
When selecting a replacement contractor, what should I look for?
Ask people you know. A personal recommendation is always the best. Look at how long the company has been in business that way you can see their long term track record. Know the warranty before you decide to purchase. Always be informed on what the warranty does and doesn't cover. Look at more than just the price! Some companies can cut costs in other areas like quality or service
What do I need to know about replacing windows in my historic home?
Before you purchase windows for your historic home, there are several things you need to keep in mind
Can you convert a window to a door or vice versa?
Yes, we can work with you to give you the perfect look for your home.
How can I tell if a replacement window is energy efficient?
You can check your window for the NFRC rating label. The NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council) is an independent organization that rates the "U-Factor" for replacement windows. "U-Factor" is the amount of heat transferred through a material. The lower the U-Factor, the slower the rate of heat flow and the better the insulating quality. You can also check the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). This measures how well a window blocks heat from the sun. The lower the SHGC, the better a window is at blocking unwanted heat gain.
What is the difference between an insert and a total renovation?
By replacing just the insert you leave the interior and exterior trim. A total renovation means that you replace the interior and exterior trim as well.
How long will it take to install my replacement windows?
The time frame for each project varies widely based on many different factors from removal of old windows to any additional work that needs to be done for the project. Your windows will be custom made for your home in at the manufacturer, while this takes a little time it ensures that in most cases the installation process is quick and easy. Typically installation jobs require only one or two days, but it depends on the size of your project. Talk to your sales representative to get a better estimate of how long your project should take.
Would a member of my household be present during my window installation? Will I need to take off work?
Someone does have to be present to let the installation team into the house. It is important for someone to be present when the job is completed to answer any question and show you how to operate your new product.
How will window installation affect the surrounding wall? Will I need to repaint my interior or exterior walls?
Our experienced installers will take the utmost care when installing your new windows. Talk to your installer/salesperson about any concerns that you might have.
Is there anything I need to do to get my home ready for my window installation? Will I need to move or cover my furniture?
Please remove all curtains, blinds or other window treatments. Also please make sure there is a clear path for the installers by moving any furniture. Please remove anything hanging on the walls close to the window as they could fall during the installation process. We will send you a check sheet with a list of things that we recommend prior to installation.
What are the steps in your installation process?
Once your windows have been shipped to us, we will contact you to set up a time to come an install them. Our team of experienced installers will install your new custom windows and make sure the site is clean before they leave.
I must tell you that Mark Russow and everyone at The Hodges Window Company are nothing less than a great representative/distributor for your company and we will not hesitate to recommend both companies to our friends and family.
The whole process from initial meeting to installation was painless and quite surprisingly, a lot less expensive than we thought it would be... Thanks again for taking such good care of us. If anyone I know is looking for new windows, I will certainly recommend your company.
The installer, who I think was Tom Langworthy, did excellent work. He was respectful of our space and cleaned up after himself. He always conducted himself in a professional manner. He seems highly competent and he engenders confidence in his workmanship.
I just wanted to express my appreciation to the team your company sent to install a few doors and repair windows in our house. They were professional, caring, cooperative and extremely courteous. They are a major asset to your company. On the whole, our experience with the Hodges Company has been very positive and we happily recommend your services to others.
We are so very, very happy (once again!) with the Hodges Company....this is the third time we have had a project completed, and each time we've been so pleased.
I am so pleased with my windows, your installers and staff. I would indeed recommend your company to anyone and everyone. They were quick, efficient and very polite.
Hodges had very knowledge salespeople, highly skilled installation crews, and the product lives up to expectations. You can't ask for better than that.
We love our new door. The installation work was timely, quick and well-done.
I couldn't be more pleased with both my windows and the installation and now "on a clear day I can see forever". If you would like to use me as a reference I would be more than happy to cooperate.
The deck door is fabulous and the installation is super!!! I love how wide it is, and how easily it opens and it actually locks! thank you for the expert product and installation.
Your craftsmanship made all the difference, and it was nice getting to know you. We hope to hire you again.
All in all a really fantastic company - they've been in business a long time and it shows based on how they treat the costumer. Am planning to do windows next year, and they will be my first phone call.
Before, we could never keep up with the cold. Now we just turn the heat on, and it stays in the building. Complaints are way down, and we're very happy.
We enjoyed meeting with Brian Whitehouse and were impressed with his ability to explain our options, always respecting our wishes and never annoying us with hard-sell tactics...It was such a pleasure to deal with people who know their job and do it well.
Your guys did a great job. The temperature in the house is up by 3 degrees and the heat pump is running half as much.
We will definitely be using Hodges again when we look to replace some windows in our house
Thank you so much for fixing my window today! Thank you for coming even though these windows aren't yours......No wonder the management office here thinks you guys can do anything and are the most helpful window company around.
Everything was excellent. The salesman offered good advice and provided examples of how the end result would look. Hodges' workers arrived on time and worked quickly. The lead installer was quite knowledgeable as well, so the job was done neatly and without incident.
I want you to know that your two colleagues who installed the windows did an outstanding job...Jean and I could not be more pleased.
Tom is definitely a master craftsman and did an excellent job. Just want you and the company to know that both Tom and Larry did an outstanding job and we are very pleased with the results.
Throughout the entire process - from our first meeting to the on-going daily supervision - by you of the job, the professionalism, the quality of the products, and the workmanship
I wouldn't deal with anyone else. Working with Hodges, I know I can get anything I want, and my imagination can run wild.
I think they did a very good job. I will go back to them in a heartbeat.
